This example shows how to use the Channel Setup Wizard
to configure an outside air sensor.

- Launch the Channel Setup Wizard,
either by clicking the Yes button at the
end of the Auto Discover Wizard
or by clicking the Run Wizard
button in the Modules Layer.
- Choose the channel type as Analogue
Input and the channel number as Temperature
Sensor, and then click next.

channel property definitions
- Desired Range: Only applicable
when reading a 0–10 voltage in the analogue input. This is the
maximum value of the unit being measured or what the reading will
be at 10 volts. Example: for a CO2 sensor that reads
0–2000 ppm (parts per million), the desired range would be set
to 2000. The unit depends on what is being measured.
- Desired Offset: Only applicable
when reading a 0–10 voltage in the analogue input. This is the
minimum value of the unit being measured or what the reading will
be at 0 volts. Usually set to 0 unless the lowest reading is not
0. The unit depends on what is being measured
- Desired Sample Rate: The number
of seconds between each read of the analogue value being measured
(temperature, light etc.).
- Desired Average Value: The number
of analogue reads over which the average is calculated. Example:
a temperature sensor will read every 5 seconds and then after
30 readings it will display the average temperature of those 1–30
readings. When the next sample read comes in (reading 31) it will
then average readings 2–31 so it becomes a rolling average. These
average values are not visible in the system. The calculations
and data are kept locally on the device PCB.
Choose the channel properties
- Choose the type of reading measured by the outside air
sensor, and then click Next.
Choose the type of measurement
- Now choose the location of the device, and then click Next.
Choose the location of the device
- The wizard will now display a confirmation of the chosen
options. Click Next
to continue.

- Select any Objects
to link to the sensor, and then click Next.

The Channel Setup Wizard
is now complete.
If the device has any channels that have not yet been configured,
you will be given the option to re-run the wizard in order to
configure those channels. You may either run the wizard again
now or return to it at a later stage, via the Run Wizard button
in the Modules Layer.

Click Finish
to return to the Floorplan.
The temperature sensor will display a reading when viewed on the
Temperature Layer.
