There are a number of different steps to follow in order to set a WEMS system. Although every property is different and each will contain a different set of devices, the general principles of setting up the system will remain the same.
It is best practice to carry out the tasks below in the order in which they are presented.
Create A Floorplan
In order to build a WEMS system, you must begin by Creating A Floorplan. When the user interface is launched for the first time, the initial setup wizard will prompt you to create the Floorplan.
Discover Devices
Once a Floorplan has been defined, the next step is to discover the devices that will appear on the Floorplan. Devices include WEMScontrollers and WEMSsensors, all of which are used to control the heating, lighting and security settings of the property.
Devices are discovered via the Auto Discover Wizard.
Set Up Channels
Once a device has been discovered, its input and output channels need to be configured, so that the system knows what is being controlled. For example, a WEMScontroller4 may control a panel heater (a heating output) and a lamp (a lighting output).
To configure a device's channels, use the Channel Setup Wizard.
Use Setup Wizards
To configure the more advanced features of the WEMS system, use the relevant wizards in the menu. For example, these wizards can be used to set up AHUs, FanCoils and VT Circuits. Such items also require the definition of control points, in order for the system to function.
Create Schedules
Once all devices, inputs and outputs have been defined, Schedules need to be created in order to manage the operation of the system at different times of day and over periods of days. This is the key method by which the WEMS system allows cost savings to be made.
